Established in 1928 by several influential and forward-thinking European hoteliers, it started with 38 initial members. An eight-decade-long commitment to providing unforgettable, authentic travel experiences, LHW selects only hotels that meet their high standards for quality and distinctiveness.

To be considered for inclusion, a hotel must be in the luxury category and meet the most exacting standards with respect to accommodations, service, cuisine, employee behavior and facilities – in short – all aspects affecting guest comfort, convenience and mood. Inspection reports, based on hundreds of separate, stringent criteria, are subsequently filed with the Executive Committee whose members then vote for acceptance or rejection. Only the world’s most distinguished properties are admitted to The Leading Hotels of the World, thereby assuring a constant adherence to the organization’s exacting standards of high quality.

This program is a Card benefit of U.S.- issued Platinum and Centurion® Cards and by invitation only, each hotel goes through a rigorous inspection process and is evaluated up to two times per year through a mystery shopper program in order to maintain the highest level of service.  With this benefit, Card Members enjoy special amenities when staying at any of our 700+ hotel partners around the world, Amenities include a complimentary room upgrade (when available), daily breakfast for two, 4pm late checkout and a unique amenity that varies at each property.
