HURRICANNE IRENE, 2011

GRACE BAY RESORTS REPORTS ALL GUESTS REMAINED SAFE AND SECURE AS HURRICANE IRENE PASSED THROUGH TURKS & CAICOS

Providenciales, Turks & Caicos (August 25, 2011) – Grace Bay Resorts reports that all guests staying at Grace Bay Club and The Veranda remained safely on property during Hurricane Irene. Direct statements from the island confirm that there were no reported injuries during the storm, and both properties were operating at full service within hours of its passing yesterday.

The extent of damage is limited to minor landscaping debris and excess water in certain areas of the resort with no structural damage to either property. The island reported substantial rainfall and some flooding in certain areas, but there was no flooding in the area of Grace Bay Beach, where the two properties are located. Given the island’s Barrier Reef, the third largest in the world, the 13-mile Grace Bay Beach at The Veranda and Grace Bay Club was protected from damage and went unscathed, remaining as beautiful as ever. Providenciales International Airport (PLS) is expected to re-open today, and Grace Bay Resorts will be working closely with the airport to ensure guests depart safely and securely. The resorts look forward to welcoming additional guests back as air service to the island is restored.

As per usual, Grace Bay Club will be closed September 6 to October 5 for its annual property-wide refurbishment. The resort is pleased to announce this year’s scheduled maintenance upgrades include a complete tennis court resurfacing, cosmetic improvements in the lobby, guestroom updates in the adults-only Hotel, and minor renovations at Anacaona, the resort’s signature restaurant. The Veranda, Grace Bay Resorts’ five-star, fully-inclusive resort, will continue to operate during this time as planned.
